My First Two Weeks Without You

Dedicated to the memory of Mack DaLab.
February 24th 2009- March 14th 2021
It's been the first two weeks without you.
Time has played a funny prank.
Some days it seems as if you just left
Other days it feels like you've been gone for months.
I was right when I said nothing will ever be the same.
No more looking up at me asking for some scratches on the head.
No more little whimper wine saying you want up on the bed.
Mz Mazzy has seemed to start the job of filling your paws.
She's giving me the cuddles that you no longer can
But they're different...
I miss the sound of your tags jungling on your collar.
I'm used to the shake you gave when you woke up... Silence takes it's place.
Now when there's a knock on the door
Mz Mazzy Star is the growler.
Your throaty bass bark is missed.
I still say "Where's my buddy?"
Unfortunately now it refers to your remains.
Maybe I'm not so lonely because I wear some of you with me on my necklace.
Still that's not close enough.
One day I'll get atleast your paw print tattooed on me with your ashes in the ink.
It's been a busy few weeks without you.
People have helped me pay tribute to you.
I also know you've visited me a time or two.
How about you?!
How have your first two weeks been without me?💞

You all act like you never seen a black lab before

I don't know what it is, but everywhere I go people act like they have never seen a black lab before!!!

Perhaps it is the reverberations of Mack's soul through his bright eyes. Perhaps it is how glossy and shiny his coat is...I am not sure what attracts the world to him.

He does have a rather proud demeanor to him...and I think that for the most part he is very inviting, but beware when you come up to my vehicle without me there...because he will not take kind to you.

He walks with pride...and maybe it seeing man and dog out on the streets that make you people want to stop and say hi.

While he hasn't been a key player in hooking me up with WisconSINfornication ( plug for another blog of mine) , there haven't been any women that haven't liked him...as he tends to throw himself at you once you meet him.

Maybe it's because he doesn't fit the malevolent image that "black dogs" are said to have.

I am told that he could be straight out of the LL Bean catologue... yet few people know the secret..and that is that he is also part spaniel....

So when you see Mack....you aren't seeing a Black Lab....you are seeing my buddy

It's Mack's not Max!!!

This is a blog to clear up that My dog's name is Mack!!! When he was born I figured he looked like a lil Mack emblem on the Mack truck. I also figured he'd grow up to be rugged dog instead of the pussy he has become....j/k!!! He is a great dog, but Dammit his name is "Mack"...I say things like "I gotta go get Mack's water" or "Where is Mack's ball?" so many people..say "Hey Max"...or come here "Max"...I guess my deep yooper accent and maybe speech impediment make it non-enunciated.... but to be crystal clear we is MACK....and no he's not Mac n cheese either....if anything he's "dick whistle"

You all act like you never seen a black lab before...
